Stories Of Celebration: Exeter

Below comes a wonderful story of encouragement from our Exeter Centre. Helen, Centre Team Leader shares the following;

“At the start of term, we were praying for more students from the university Christian Union to join our Globe team. Globe Café is run as a partnership between the CU and Friends International and functions best when we have a good mix of student and non-student team members.

Praise God, that prayer has been richly answered with a good number of new CU students joining us at Globe. We greatly benefit from their presence as they are so well placed to come alongside the international students and provide the peer-to-peer friendships that many internationals really want. They can also do a better job than those of us from older generations of helping to ‘translate’ features of Western student culture for those from other backgrounds.

We have also been encouraged by their enthusiasm to attend some additional training sessions that Abbie and Helen have run on building friendships and sharing faith cross-culturally. As well as equipping them to volunteer effectively at Globe, our prayer is that these sessions will also bear fruit for them in their whole lives, as they cross paths and rub shoulders with those from other cultures in whatever setting they find themselves in…”
