Canterbury Continues The Celebration!
In addition to our five national events across the UK and Ireland – our Canterbury centre also held a 40thAnniversary celebration event, Saturday 17th May. Baiba (Centre Team Leader) shares her thoughts from the occasion;
“We were excited to hold a 40th Anniversary event! Many supporters and volunteers came together to thank God for all that He has done and share stories of changed lives of students and volunteers who experienced God’s love, provision and blessing through this ministry. It was great to celebrate at St Andrews United Reformed Church where Andrew Way, the first FI Canterbury staff worker established thriving International Café ministry. Andrew Muwowo, who served as an Area Team Leader from 2006-2016, encouraged us from 1 Chronicles 17. Ji shared what FI meant to her as a student and pastors Richard Hagan (from Emmanuel church) and Oz Power (from Barton evangelical church) shared how their churches had been blessed by the co-operation with Friends International in Canterbury. John Field who was one of the first FI trustees (then ISCS) gave a short reflection on the beginnings of FI and shared a prayer for next 40 years of FI work… Thank you to all that attended this wonderful event…”
