Birmingham Updates: Finding Community
Here we have a further update from one of our centres throughout the UK and Ireland, where we have been encouraged by this recent news story – a wonderful example of a student who found community with them:
Last month, two married Iranian graduates, Arman and Bahar*, came to faith following a succession of dreams from God. They had recently moved from one FI Centre, which Susie leads, to another.
In his ultimate dream, Arman saw Susie asking him why he hadn’t answered her invitation to come to church. Water then started coming out of the ground around Arman and forming large waves. People panicked and tried to climb tall buildings, while Susie sailed away on a ship.
Our friend Arman cried out to God for help and a ‘light, beautiful man’ appeared to him saying, “Calm down, don’t run – close your eyes and lie down in the water. Everything will be OK”. He trusted the man and laid back. Then he woke up.
We met with Arman several times over one week to help interpret the dream and discuss Matthew’s Gospel. When we knew Arman was genuine, we introduced him to another Iranian, Reza, who led him to Christ. We wish we could show you the photo of Arman beaming.
It won’t surprise you to know that one of Arman’s first questions was when he could lay down in the water of baptism.
Arman and Bahar are now settling in an Iranian church group attended by Reza. Please pray for their discipleship, and all the family, social and spiritual challenges of coming to faith as an Iranian. Last night, they learned more about Christian prayer. “It is beautiful”, Arman said.
