Our Bath Centre Celebrates Two Recent Stories
We are encouraged in sharing recent updates from our Bath Centre. Give thanks for these students and their journey with the support of Friends International…
1) A PhD student from China attended the 2023 Christmas meal at Café International in Bath for the first time. We didn’t see her again at the Café until January of this year when she came with a Chinese Christian friend to our Burns’ Night event. At that event she explained to me that after the Christmas Café she had started to attend a church in Bath and that in April 2024 she became a Christian and got baptised! She has been coming to the Café regularly this semester and continues to be discipled by the church she came to faith through.
2) A few years ago, a Christian undergraduate student from Hong Kong who attended International Bible Study started to date a non-Christian girl from Hong Kong. The group was praying for him and advising him against this. However, in God’s grace and mercy, she came to faith in January of this year! After finishing her undergrad in Bath, she lived in Hong Kong for a year before starting a Master’s degree at Bath again. The first term of this Master’s degree involved a placement in Hong Kong so she only arrived in Bath for semester two.
Her boyfriend, now in Exeter, brought her to church the first sunday back and our pastor prayed a prayer of repentance at the end of his sermon. This was in the Lord’s sovereign plan as the student joined in the prayer and went to tell him afterwards.
Subsequently she has been coming to church regularly and attending both a seeker Bible study we run along with the International Bible study when she is able. Thanks be to God!
