Coming To Faith
We always look forward to sharing updates from our centres throughout the UK and Ireland, and we have been encouraged by this recent news story from Edinburgh, who share a wonderful example of a student who has come to faith, supported by the Friends International team:
Xiaoling came to Edinburgh for nine months as a visiting scholar from China. Soon after arriving here, she started coming to some chaplaincy events and got to know the chaplaincy team.
Having seen Xiaoling’s interest in understanding what Christianity was about I invited her to read the Bible with me and she was eager to accept. We met regularly to read the gospel of Mark for several months. During this time, she also started coming to church and met other Christians. I introduced her to my Chinese colleague, who was able to answer some of Xiaoling’s questions about faith in Chinese.
As Xiaoling learned about the gospel, and about Jesus command to take up our cross and follow Him, she became aware of the cost involved in following Jesus; however, after consideration she decided that this cost was worth it. She has now returned to China as a new Christian.
We were able to do a short discipleship course with her before she left and discuss
how she would continue in her faith once she had returned home. Our team has connected her with a Christian in her home city who has been in contact and who will be able to connect her with a church back home…
