As an international student in Leicester, I quickly realised the importance of finding a community. After just two weeks, I was feeling extremely lonely and long to find a group of friends, especially some fellow Christians as I hadn’t found a church to settle down.

 

I started going to various Friends International events and met new friends from all over the world. The volunteers and staff are always so welcoming, and gradually I started to feel like I belonged there, like I finally found my second family here in Leicester.

 

I realised how FI gradually helped me to grow in faith as a Christian. They’ve been there for me during challenging times, offering encouragement and prayers when I needed them most.

 

I’m so thankful to have found FI, and I really hope other international students will also get to experience the same sense of belonging that I have. But more importantly, I hope they’ll get to know more about Jesus and find their own faith journey through the presence of Friends International, just like I did…

 

Coming from Pakistan, my experience with Friends International, led by Penny and Ruth, has been nothing short of transformative. Being an international student can often feel overwhelming, but this organization has been my lifeline, helping me navigate the complexities of living in a new country while fostering connections with fellow students from around the world.

 

Through their diverse range of activities, from language exchanges to cultural outings, I’ve not only improved my language skills but also formed deep bonds with peers who understand the challenges of being far from home.

 

One of the highlights has been our weekly gatherings, where laughter and friendship flow freely as we explore new interests together. Thanks to Friends International, I haven’t just found friends; I’ve found a family that has made my journey as an international student truly unforgettable…
