Discipleship Continues Back Home...
N, was a Japanese student who came to Reading University to study a Masters degree in the academic year 2021-22.
He engaged with the ‘Small World Café’ run by Reading University Christian Union in his first term and joined in with some of the other activities that were offered, including local walks and the Local Link host scheme. He joined a Bible discussion looking at Uncover Mark which was offered during an evening at Small World Café. He was obviously impressed with what he heard in that session, as will become clear later.
It was during one of the local walks a few days later that he mentioned that he would really like to experience a traditional English Breakfast! I explained that we, like other local people, very rarely had such a breakfast at home, but saw that this was on opportunity not to be missed!
I invited him to our flat the next Saturday morning which eventually became a regular weekly event where we had our cooked English Breakfast, lots of discussion which included a study of Uncover Mark.
The discipleship of N is still ongoing although he is back home in Japan. He has a job and has also found a good international church (through a British couple who have links with Friends International) which allows him to meet local as well as international folk who live and work in Japan. We are continuing to engage in online Bible studies and he is moving on with his faith. He is very aware that the gospel message is not one that is readily accepted in his homeland but he is excited by what God is doing and will do, in his life and has a heart for sharing his faith with other Japanese.
Please continue to pray for N as his journey with the Lord continues on…
